How U Dictionary helped me improve my English?

Four years ago I got married and shifted to New Delhi from Andhra Pradesh with my husband. For the first few months in the city, I could manage with my average English. After sometime though, I started facing issues. For example, back home, I could take tuition classes for school students to pass my time. But in Delhi, my average English and broken Hindi stopped me from doing so.

My husband suggested that I download a good dictionary app on my mobile for improving my English.

I tried several app for dictionary but more or less all were either online or paid. And then I stumbled up0n  U-Dictionary app from Google Play Store. This free app could be used without an internet connection. The best part about this dictionary was that I could get English meanings for both Telugu and Hindi words (Almost 19 other languages modules are available). The U Dictionary app also let me save all the words I searched for.

The sample sentences feature helped me in constructing full sentences in English. I also learnt the correct pronunciations of new words from people’s actual pronunciations through the app. These features made a huge difference in remembering new words.

This dictionary app was also useful when my husband and I travelled to other states in India. During our travels, my fear of being unable to talk with new people, was greatly lowered because of my improved English, even though I didn’t know the local language. Thanks to U Dictionary app, now my English is far superior. My higher confidence helped me start giving tuition classes for school students in New Delhi!
